In a recent article on selling sound kits and samples, the growth of the music sample market was made clear. Splice Sounds, which launched in 2015, announced this week that they have now surpassed $25 million being paid out to sound designers, producers, vocalists, and instrumentalists who distribute their sounds on the platform. Subscribers to the platform have downloaded millions of samples from thousands of sample packs. Subscribers range from independent beatmakers to those scoring feature length films.
Splice has worked with high profile sound creators like Scott Storch, Travis Barker, and Boi-1da. And also independent creators at the top of their game, like Decap, the creator of the epic Drums That Knock series. New sample and loop packs are distributed on the cloud-based collaboration platform daily. And these samples can even be seamlessly integrated into the Akai MPC hardware sampler. Users of the platform can also get the best audio plugins for their music using a rent-to-own option.
Vocal pack creator KARRA, who was working at Jersey Mike’s Subs when she released her first vocal pack, now has a publishing deal. Her samples even showed up on Bring Me The Horizon’s Grammy-nominated album. The sounds found on Splice are used by industry heavyweights and those producing music out of their bedroom.
Expect the growth to continue
With this announcement it’s no surprise Splice has received $102 million in capital since launch. Splice is evaluated in excess of $280 million. We expect the growth of the sample and loop market to continue its upward trajectory in the coming years. And Splice will be at the forefront of this market as it continues to evolve with partnerships like its one with Akai. View our weekly updated rankings of the top Sample and Loop packs on Splice. Congratulations to Splice, their network of sample makers, and all subscribers to the platform.
